LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil, left, during a press conference in South Korea in 2025.

⛳ LIV Golf Scott O’Neil did his best to put an optimistic face on the league’s future. On the other hand, Sergio Garcia said, “We’ll see.” Which one is more realistic?

⛳ Rory McIlroy said on whether some LIV players would bring value if they returned to the PGA Tour: “I’d argue, have they brought value to LIV?” Is he being provocative on purpose?

⛳ Lee Westwood said of McIlroy’s comments: “It’s typical Rory. It wasn’t well thought out.” Agree?

⛳ Matt Fitzpatrick said the FedEx Cup Playoffs make no sense, that golf is not conducive to playoffs. But if one player runs away with the points — like Scottie Scheffler is now — and there’s nothing to play for at the end, would people still watch?

⛳ But to be fair, the PGA Tour has yet to create and interesting and fair way to conduct the playoffs. Adam Scott now says he’s changed his mind and is now in favor of a match play format for the Tour Championship. Does match play sound like half an answer?

⛳ Scheffler won by eight strokes at last week’s first playoff event, the FedEx St. Jude in Memphis. Does that get him closer to PGA Tour Player of the Year?

⛳ Apparently, the PGA Tour has $1.5 billion sitting around that it doesn’t know what to do with. It’s money from selling a 12% stake in PGA Tour Enterprises to Strategic Sports Group. Have we already forgotten about the Tour’s cornerstone commitment to charity?

⛳ Rachel Hetherington, winner of eight LPGA Tour events, quit competitive golf, went home to Australia and became a lawyer. She’s competing in this weekend’s U.S. Senior Women’s Open. There has to be a lawyer joke in there somewhere, doesn’t it?

⛳ From equipment to greens fees to club memberships, has anyone noticed the seemingly runaway cost of playing golf?
