With the Epson Tour set to begin the 12th edition of the IOA Golf Classic later this week, there is a long-standing streak that has spanned across three seasons now that a handful of players can break.
Since Gabriela Ruffels won the Four Winds Invitational in August 2023 to earn her third victory of the season, the Tour has seen 28 different champions in the 28 tournaments that have followed. While some players like veteran Daniela Iacobelli and 2024 graduate Jenny Bae added more wins to their resumes in that span, no one has earned two or more titles on the Epson Tour since Ruffels’ three-win season two years ago.
There are some names in the field this week who would be able to break that streak, nine of which are winners who captured victories in 2023 and 2024, with both 2025 champions having a chance to do so as well.
Of the 2023 and 2024 champions, Briana Chacon, Juliana Hung and Savannah Carlson are the only players to make both cuts to start their seasons. Chacon is coming off a title defense at the Atlantic Beach Classic, where she finished T39, but her best finish thus far came at the season-opening Central Florida Championship, where she tied for 14th.
Hung and Carlson have each added top-10 results to their resumes early in 2025, both at the Central Florida Championship. Carlson also recorded a T20 finish in extremely difficult conditions at the Atlantic Beach Classic and is currently sitting at 15th in the Race for the Card. 15. Hung also finds herself inside the coveted top 15, with her T3 showing two weeks ago in Winter Haven, Florida, helping her get to No. 7 early.
Laetitia Beck and Riley Smyth are the first two winners of the 2025 season and rightly hold the top two spots in the Race for the Card. For Beck and Smyth, their victories were the first of their careers, despite both athletes playing on the Epson Tour for multiple seasons. But Beck has been the standout performer through two events, earning a T3 finish at the Central Florida Championship to go with her victory at the Atlantic Beach Classic.
If Beck were to win in back-to-back weeks, she would be the first to do so since Jenny Bae won the Hartford HealthCare Women’s Championship and Casella Golf Championship in consecutive starts in 2023.
