LIV Golf broadcast booth takes shape

Inaugural London event to feature Arlo White, Jerry Foltz and Dom Boulet in booth; coverage to include perspective from 50 cameras, 60 microphones

Arlo White
Arlo White has an extensive play-by-play resume calling Premier League games in the United States.

With the LIV Golf Invitational Series' first event just days away, the league has announced its less-than-traditional tournament broadcasting details.

The debut tournament at Centurion Club will be broadcast live on LIVGolf.com, YouTube and Facebook beginning Thursday at 9 a.m. ET. The event will also be aired on a roster of premium and free-to-air broadcasters that will cover 138 territories around the world.

Arlo White will be lead play-by-play announcer. White is listed as having called FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, Major League Soccer, Super Bowls and the Cricket World Cup, but no golf events.

Rounding out the three-person booth are Jerry Foltz, formerly of the Golf Channel and NBC Sports, as an analyst and color commentator, and Dom Boulet, a former player on the Asian Tour who, according to a LIV Golf press release, "is widely known throughout Asia as the voice of golf."

The opening event will feature a 12-team, 48-player field in a shotgun start. The broadcast will feature coverage from more than 50 cameras and, according to a release from LIV Golf, "will present views from 16 different towers, drones, and mobile steady cameras, with tracer technology highlighting the action throughout the course. Fans will also hear the sport like never before through more than 60 microphones incorporated from tee to green on every hole, including player and caddie mics that will bring fans inside the competition."

“The LIV Golf broadcast will be unlike anything fans have seen before,” said Will Staeger, LIV Golf chief media officer. “The innovations we are introducing to the sport will be distributed to existing and new audiences all over the world as we deliver golf coverage dedicated to entertainment and access. We’ve built a world class production team that has combined the industry’s best practices with a reimagined experience for viewers to create a one-of-a-kind broadcast. We’ve been counting down the days to Thursday’s start so fans can tune in and watch what we have been working on.”

Su-Ann Heng, a former No. 1 ranked golfer in Singapore and six-time member of the Singapore Ladies National Team, will be an on-course commentator. Heng has experience as a golf analyst with network FOX Sports Asia. Also, Troy Mullins, a former Women’s Long Drive record holder and a regular contributor on the Golf Channel, will serve as an on-course reporter and social influencer for LIV Golf.

Steve Beim, a nine-time Emmy award winner, will serve as live event coverage director and executive producer.
