Lance Evans, senior vice president, sports for MGM Resorts in Las Vegas, shares his thoughts on leadership, what advice he would give a younger him and his vintage extravagance.

Lance Evans: I oversee all sports-related business for MGM Resorts, including marketing strategy, events, partnerships, betting, experiential activations and related business, like corporate partnerships, group and premium sales.
TFC: What time do you wake in the morning, and what time do you typically start the workday?
LE: 6 a.m., wake and 9 a.m. work.
TFC: What are key elements to leadership or to being a good leader?
LE: Listening and trust.
TFC: What changes, if any, have you made based on the events of the past year?
LE: Too many to name.
TFC: What's the secret to your success?
LE: Prioritize and communicate.
TFC: Who is your role model?
LE: Not sure I have a role model, but I genuinely appreciate the style and decision-making of Adam Silver, commissioner of the NBA.
TFC: Knowing what you know today, what professional advice would you give a younger you?
LE: Get an advanced degree (Masters, JD, etc.), Start your career in something you are passionate about and work smart.
TFC: What’s the last book you read?
LE: “Leaders Eat Last,” by Simon Sinek.
TFC: What’s the last movie you saw?
LE: At the theater? “F9”. At home? “Black Widow”.

LE: Depends on mood, but it leans to country.
TFC: What is your handicap index?
LE: 2.1.

LE: At my kids’ activities or on the golf course.

LE: My 1970 Ford Bronco … and an assortment of putters that can't seem to fit me right.

LE: Sponsoring athletes.

LE: Augusta National, Cypress Point, Oakland Hills, Shadow Creek and Riviera.
