USGA tabs Pinehurst for six future championships; East West Matches selects captains

Rokform: Debuts the Eagle 3, a new case for the iPhone 15 that is designed with golfers in mind. The all-clear case features 360-degree, military-grade 6-foot drop protection, added screen, corner, and camera protection, and specially designed, extra-strength MagSafe-compatible magnets that allow the case to bond to any magnetic surface.

Bobby Weed Golf Design: In collaboration with MacCurrach Golf Construction, completes a nine-month modernization of the Lagoon Course at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The front nine was designed by Robert Trent Jones in 1961; the back nine was added by Joe Lee in 1978. In 2007, Weed redesigned and lengthened the par-70 layout to 6,025 yards.

USGA: Selects Pinehurst Resort & Country Club to host six USGA championships — the 2027 U.S. Women’s Amateur, 2032 U.S. Junior Amateur and U.S. Girls’ Junior, 2038 U.S. Amateur, 2044 U.S. Women’s Amateur and a future U.S. Adaptive Open. The 2027 and 2044 U.S. Women’s Amateurs and 2038 U.S. Amateur will be held on Pinehurst No. 2, with the remaining championship’s courses to be determined at a later date. In 2020, Pinehurst was selected as the USGA's first U.S. Open anchor site.

East West Matches: Names Nathan Smith and Brady Exber as the captains for the matches, scheduled for Nov. 1-3 at Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas. Started in 2020, the biennial matches feature a Ryder Cup-style team format for American mid-amateur and senior competitors. Smith, a six-time USGA champion and the USA Walker Cup captain for the 2025 Match, will lead the East against Exber, a former R&A Senior Amateur champion and long-time fixture in mid- and senior amateur golf, who will captain the West Team.
