Scottsdale, Ariz. (December 10, 2020) – Sterling Grove Golf and Country Club, a new semi-private club currently under development in Surprise, Ariz., is pleased to welcome Brenton Caruthers as head golf professional and Hanna Atkins as membership director. The 18-hole Nicklaus Design golf course is scheduled to open for member and daily-fee play in January 2021.
Caruthers comes to Sterling Grove from Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. where he served as an assistant golf professional. Prior to Troon North, he was the general manager at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, Mo. Caruthers has 10-plus years of experience in the golf and hospitality industries, serving in various positions including outside service, sales and marketing and golf operations. A graduate of Missouri State University, he is a Class-A member of the PGA of America.
As membership director, Atkins will lead Sterling Grove’s new member sales, onboarding and connection activities. A graduate of the Northern Colorado University, Atkins earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications while competing on the University’s women’s golf team. She is currently in the midst of obtaining her LPGA certification and has three-plus years of golf and hospitality experience. Prior to her new position at Sterling Grove, Atkins served as a guest services platinum host at Top Golf in Glendale, Ariz.

Sterling Grove Golf and Country Club is managed by Troon and is the centerpiece of the 780-acre Sterling Grove Toll Brothers luxury lifestyle community. According to Nicklaus Design, the concept for the golf course is to showcase features from the golden age of golf architecture, providing golfers with a very playable and enjoyable golf course. Sterling Grove Golf and Country Club will ultimately become an exclusive private club reserved for members and their guests. When the course opens in 2021, and for a limited time as the Sterling Grove community builds out, the club will be open to daily-fee and unaccompanied non-member play.
