Scott Holmes named 2020 PGA Jr. League #Gamechanger

(DULLES, Va.) – Scott Holmes, Director of the PGA Junior League at 1757 Golf Club in Dulles, Va., was named a PGA Jr. League #Gamechanger by the PGA of America for having the eighth largest program in the U.S. and the top program in the Middle Atlantic Section.

Holmes came in eighth from over 3700 programs in the U.S., making the PGA Jr. League the largest junior golf organization in the country. This is the second straight year Holmes has been honored as a #Gamchanger.

PGA Jr. League #Gamechangers are determined on an annual basis by the following quantitative criteria: PGA and LPGA captains with the largest number of registered players nationwide and in each of the 41 PGA sections. Holmes’ expert coaching provided kids with a constructive outlet in a safe environment.

“To duplicate the success of our program in 2019 in a year like 2020 is a tremendous accomplishment,” says Homes. “The team at 1757 was able to adapt on the fly to create a fun activity for young kids and I am honored to have been a part of it.”

Holmes arrived at 1757 Golf Club in 2014 and started the PGA Junior League team from scratch. He initially had only 10 kids playing and was able to organically grow the program each year into what it is today. Each parent has entrusted Holmes to not only provide first-class golf instruction, but develop confidence, build friendships and learn integrity as well.

In just four years, Holmes guided the 1757 PGA Junior League team to sectional and regional championships and traveled to Scottsdale, Ariz., for the 2018 PGA Jr. League National Championship. The journey with the 2018 team inspired Holmes to continue improving the league so teams in the future have more opportunities to develop as golfers and do the same.

“That was one of the best golf trips of my life,” continues, Holmes. “If we can create a culture at 1757 where those types of experiences can happen more frequently, that’s success in my eyes. To provide an environment where kids can feel like they can do anything is worth more than any trophy.”

Opened in 2009 and just minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport, 1757 Golf Club is one of Northern Virginia’s most popular courses. The par-70 layout is routed through undulating terrain that   provides breathtaking views of the picturesque Virginia countryside.
