Bluffton, South Carolina (March 2, 2021) – Belfair, a private community in Bluffton, South Carolina, and its new Sports & Lifestyle Campus have been honored by Golf Inc. magazine, taking second place in the Best Multiple Amenities Category in the publication’s 2021 Amenity of the Year competition. Golf Inc., the world's only magazine for golf course developers, owners and management company executives, annually recognizes the best new amenities and golf industry’s top dining facilities at public and private clubs in the February/March issue.
In 2019, Belfair unveiled its $9 million dollar, multi-dimensional Sports & Lifestyle Campus with dining, fitness, and leisure-oriented venues including tennis, pickleball, bocce ball and an aquatics complex with indoor and outdoor pools. The 21,000 square-foot complex, includes a new 9,000 square-foot fitness center, nearly twice the size of the previous facility and includes a cardio training facility, group class studios and a personal training and sports therapy program. Culinary venues include the casual pub-like 1811 Grille; The Bistro is located in the center of the Sports & Lifestyle Campus and offers casual indoor and outdoor dining options; and Veranda Dining overlooks the 18th greens of the property’s East and West Courses.
Golf Inc. recognized 19 honorees this year, eight in three amenity categories (including Best Multiple Amenities) and 11 in the Golden Fork categories for best new and renovated dining facilities.
Belfair features two championship golf courses designed by Tom Fazio that exemplify Lowcountry beauty. The West Course opened in 1996 with Links Magazine proclaiming it “…the finest set of golf holes in the Lowcountry, if not on the East Coast.” The par-72 West Course will host play during all four rounds of the PGA Professional Championship and plays to 7,111 yards from the championship tees. Belfair’s East Course opened in 1999 and is reminiscent of the links courses of Scotland while showcasing the area’s deep-water views, fresh water lakes and lagoons. The par-71 layout measures 6,900 yards from the championship tees. Golfweek Magazine ranks both courses among the “Best 150 Residential Courses” in the United States in their 2021 ranking.
Belfair is managed by Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon. For more information on Belfair, visit www.belfair1811.com or call (843) 757-0701.
