(CLINTON, NC) - The U.S. Disabled Open Golf Championship presented by PING, open to all adaptive golfers from around the world, takes place from May 17, 2021, to May 20, 2021, at Longbow Golf Club just outside of Phoenix, Arizona.

The United States Disabled Golf Association (USDGA) was formed in 2015 with the mission to provide adaptive golfers an opportunity to showcase his or her ability in a golf championship at the highest level in the U.S. The 2021 U.S. Disabled Open Golf Championship presented by PING at Longbow Golf Club will be the USDGA’s third annual championship.

The USDGA hosted its inaugural tournament at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, in 2018. The 2019 tournament was played at Independence Golf Club in Richmond, Virginia. Chris Biggins from Birmingham, Alabama, and Grace Braxton from Fredericksburg, Virginia, are the defending champions in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively. The 2019 Championship featured 74 golfers from the U.S. and eight foreign countries.

This year the championship’s presenting partner will be PING.

"We're excited and honored to partner with the USDGA in bringing their championship to Longbow Golf Club in our hometown," said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. "We've been long-time admirers of the organization and their commitment to promoting adaptive golf. We've also been fortunate to work with several of the contestants, including custom building clubs for many of them to meet their unique needs. Their skills and passion for the game are very inspiring. We wish them all the best as they compete for the championship."

The official simulator of the championship will be aboutGOLF.

“Our mission statement is that modern golf should be played anytime, anywhere, and by anyone. Ultimately, the sport is all about creating connections between people who share a passion for golf. We’re thrilled to support the USDGA and these accomplished athletes, and we’re looking forward to cheering everyone on during this exciting competition,” said Brett Campbell, CEO of aboutGOLF.

Sandy Cross, Chief People Officer from the PGA of America, said, "We are very proud to return as a supporter of the United States Disabled Open in May at Longbow Golf Club in North Mesa, Arizona. Golf is truly a game for all. We are in pursuit of a game that mirrors America, and the United States Disabled Golf Association's inclusion of athletes with disabilities plays an important role in achieving that vision."

Host this year will be Longbow Golf Club (a Troon managed course), located at 5601 East Longbow Parkway, 20-minutes from Phoenix International Airport in Mesa, Arizona. Longbow Golf Club has previous hosted the Symetra Tour, Cactus Tour, Heather-Farr Classic, and the NCAA Division 2 Women’s Championship.

“Longbow Golf Club is honored to be the host site for the 2021 U.S. Disabled Open Golf Championship,” said Bob McNichols, developer of Longbow Business Park and Golf Club. “Longbow Golf Club has long advocated and supported adaptive golf. We have provided access, training, specialized equipment and partnered with Ability360 Sports and Fitness Center and various community organizations to promote access to the game of golf for the adaptive golf community. We look forward to welcoming the competitors and presenting an exciting championship for the top U.S. and international adaptive golfers.”

The championship will be part of the U.S. Rankings for Golfers with Disabilities, and the $280.00 registration fee will include four rounds of golf and two meals. The host hotel is Hyatt Place, 1422 West Bass Pro Drive, Mesa, Arizona. To register to play or become a sponsor, please go to www.usdga.net or email Jason Faircloth at jason@usdga.net.
