(ONTARIO, CANADA) — Folds of Honor has distributed more than 28,000 educational scholarships for spouses and children of disabled veterans and fallen soldiers. With a helping hand from Jack Nicklaus, that number will continue to rise.
Nicklaus, the 18-time major winner and architect of more than 425 courses in 40 countries, has renovated what used to be Grand Haven Golf Club in Michigan and soon will reopen as American Dunes Golf Club near the eastern shores of Lake Michigan.
All profits from American Dunes – a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course – will be donated to Folds of Honor, which in 2019 awarded approximately $22 million in educational scholarships to more than 4,500 students, representing a 10 percent increase in scholarships from 2018.
Nicklaus, a longtime Folds of Honor supporter, started discussions about the concept and renovations in 2018 with U.S. Air Force Reserves Lieutenant Colonel Dan Rooney, who founded Folds of Honor in 2007.
The Commemorative Towel Tag features an American Flag themed Fighter Jet above the American Dunes logo on one side and a quote from Jack Nicklaus on the other, “I love the game of golf, but I love my country even more.”
The Commemorative Towel features 13 alternating Folds of Honor and American Dunes logos in honor of the 13 creases folded into an American Flag after it is lifted from the casket of a killed soldier returning home.
“We’re very excited to be providing Commemorative Towel Tag combos for this inaugural event at America Dunes,” said Craig Holub, Founder of Towel Tag. “When you have the opportunity to be associated with and support individuals like Jack Nicklaus and Lieutenant Colonel Dan Rooney and an organization like The Folds of Honor…you jump at it…no questions asked. We’re honored to just be a part of it!”
ABOUT THE TOWEL TAG
The innovative Towel Tag utilizes “Pull-Thru Technology” to create an entirely new generation of functional bag tags. Towel Tag is designed to temporarily secure your golf towel without the use of grommets or hooks. Each tag is manufactured using two separate compounds to create a functional bag tag with exceptional durability. They are ideal for temporary storage of golf towels, head covers, rain gear, outdoor and layered clothing. Towel Tag uses the latest printing technology to create a customized Towel Tag suited for every golfer, team, organization, or golf event.
Prior to the Towel Tag, most golf towels were secured to the golf bag by means of a standard grommet and hook like those used on a shower curtain. This traditional attachment made it very difficult to easily release the towel when required, for example as a player walks to the golf green to spot, lift and clean their golf ball after reaching the green and prior to lining up your putt.
“I decided to combine the simple features of the traditional bag tag and an accessible towel holder,” said Craig Holub, Founder of Towel Tag, “and then we figured out a way to personalize it and make it unique for the golfer and unlike anything else currently available on the market.”
