Salina native purchases Salina Country Club

Salina, Kansas (May 28, 2021) – Salina native and JRI Hospitality President, Founder and CEO Jason Ingermanson has purchased Salina Country Club. The new ownership represents a new beginning for the historic property as Ingermanson will look to improve his hometown club. Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon, will continue managing club operations.

Established in 1911, Salina Country Club is the city’s second oldest business. Ingermanson has plans to immediately begin restoring the club’s infrastructure, including a new parking lot, new roof and dining room upgrades. Additional plans call for new technologies to be added to the clubhouse, such as a state-of-the-art golf simulator.

“I’m excited to begin this community project. I believe this will allow Salina Country Club to thrive for many years, and provide a one-of-a-kind experience to its members,” said Ingermanson.

Chris Nickell, who has been with Salina Country Club since 2018, will continue as general manager and JRI Hospitality’s operating partner in club operations. Nickell has an extensive background in hospitality and guest services, having worked for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts prior to arriving at Salina Country Club.

“Fostering a sense of community has always been one of Salina Country Club’s core values,” said Nickell. “Our team remains focused on providing members and guests the finest services along with a personalized unique and memorable experience.”

In 2015, Ingermanson took over the family farm in Salina after his father retired. A strong sense of family and community drives Ingermanson as the father of three believes extending family-focused hospitality, and giving back strengthens communities. JRI Hospitality’s “JRI CARES'' community projects include food and clothing drives, cancer research, youth education and sports, foster care, and providing scholarship opportunities to young employees preparing for college.

JRI Hospitality owns and operates more than 60 Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers nationwide, two Mokas Café restaurants in Kansas, as well as seven Chompie’s restaurants in Arizona. In 2003, Ingermanson started his first Mokas Café in Salina – there is currently one location in Salina and one in Hays, Kansas.
