Hundred-hole marathons for Folds of Honor

HOUSTON, Texas [June 8, 2021] - Steve Kerns is playing a 100-hole golf marathon one day every month this year to benefit Folds of Honor.

Steve has completed 500 of his 1,200 holes played throughout 2021. It takes Steve about 8.5 to 9 hours to play the 100 holes, using 3 carts per most marathons. He shoots most of his rounds in the 70’s and currently plays to a 6.7 handicap. Steve plays his “non - marathon” golf out of Whisper Rick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Lakeside Country Club in Houston, and American Dunes in Grand Haven, Michigan.

Steve has been passionate about the Folds of Honor mission since his company, Insurmark, chose FOH as their corporate charity in 2015. Since then, Steve and Insurmark have provided scholarships for the children & spouses of 12 fallen or disabled veterans. Since learning that in 2020 there were 1400 eligible scholarship applicants who did not receive funding, Steve has decided to do these golf marathons to close the gap and ensure that every child and spouse receives funding. So far, not even halfway through the year, the marathons have raised $76,668 of our $100,000 goal! Steve invites donors to pledge per hole or make a straight donation. All funds raised go directly to the FOH mission.

People and organizations that want to support Kerns’ fundraising initiative are invited to pledge donations for every hole Steve completes during the golf marathon or make a single donation in any amount they choose. Pledges and donations can be made at KernsGolfMarathon.com.

We hope you will consider having Steve on your podcast to share his passion for golf and the Folds of Honor mission. To read more about the golf marathons, visit the Steve Kerns Golf Marathon webpage, the FOH website, or hear his interview with Metro-Detroit Golf Podcast here, starting at 16:10.
