(July 7, 2021) – Reunion Golf & Country Club in Madison, Miss. has been recognized by Club + Resort Business as having one of the “Top Racquet Facilities in the U.S.” Reunion, which features nine Har-Tru tennis courts, placed number 34 on the prestigious ranking of the top private club and resort racquet facilities for 2021.
Reunion Golf & Country Club has eight certified teaching professionals and two part-time pros who assist for larger clinics and during busier parts of the year. The junior programs consist of 45 active juniors (ages 4-6), 115 active juniors (ages 7-10) and 110 active juniors ages (11-18). The club’s tennis program is led by Justyn Schelver, who came to Reunion in March of 2011 from Hilton Head, South Carolina where he served as the Academy Director and Director of Events for Van der Meer Tennis University. Schelver has been named USPTR’s Professional of the Year for Mississippi in 2011 and 2020 and USTA Mississippi’s Professional of the Year in 2012. He is a USTA “High Performance” certified professional and has served as the head coach for Mississippi’s Southern Jr. Cup team from 2011-2021. Since arriving at Reunion he has developed one of the largest and most successful programs for juniors and adults in the region.
Submitted entries for Club + Resort Business’ Top Racquet Facilities were judged independently by a panel comprised of club professionals from several of the industry’s most well-respected properties and a leader in the world of racquet sports. Rankings reflect the judges’ scoring of data provided on the types -- tennis, pickleball, squash/paddle/racquetball – and number of courts at the property; retail/F&B size (sq. ft.) for racquet-specific facilities; average total monthly plays; member usage (% of total membership); number of interclub teams and junior players; full-time and part-time/contract staff; photos and more.
Reunion Golf & Country Club also hosts an extensive year-round event schedule that consists of three sanctioned junior tournaments, more than 15 social mixers, intra-club leagues and more. For adults, the club has eight JLTA teams and fields more USTA night league teams than any private club in Mississippi.
