Scottsdale, Ariz. (August 4, 2021) – GOLF Magazine has named six Troon®-affiliated golf instructors to its recently released 2021-2022 ranking of the Top 100 Teachers in America. The biennial accolade ranks golf instructors across the country and is the only national golf instructor search that combines outside academic and PGA peer review.
Golf instructors at Troon-affiliated facilities recognized by GOLF Magazine include:
- Wayne Flint – Instructor at Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham, Alabama
- Chris Mayson – Director of Instruction at Maderas Golf Club in Poway, California
- Andrew Rice – Director of Instruction at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Pooler, Georgia
- Boyd Summerhays – Instructor at McDowell Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona
In addition, and new for 2021, GOLF Magazine created a new designation to honor Top 100 Teachers who have remained on the Top 100 list for 20 consecutive years or more. Troon’s Global Director of Education and Coaching Tim Mahoney and Dana Rader, Director of Instruction at Belfair in Bluffton, South Carolina, both received this impressive distinction.
To be considered for Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers in America ranking, candidates are screened against a set of criteria evaluating their teaching experience and accomplishments, student portfolio and peer ratings, along with their overall commitment to the growth of the game, both through volunteerism and their ability to use digital platforms. In addition to a public application, candidates are nominated by the PGA, LPGA and United States Golf Teachers Federation, among others. The Top 100 Teachers Credentials Committee reviews 250 applications, on average, before selecting the new members.
