Naples, Fla. (December 6, 2021) – Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples is set to host its second professional golf event in a three-week span, as PGA TOUR and LPGA professionals will play in this week’s QBE Shootout, December 10 – 12. The LPGA Tour’s season ending CME Group Tour Championship was just played (November 18 – 21) at Tiburón and was won by Jin Young Ko. Following a two-month break, Tiburón will then play host to the PGA TOUR Champions’ Chubb Classic presented by SERVPRO, February 18 – 20, 2022.
Tiburón Golf Club is the only golf facility in the world to host LPGA Tour, PGA TOUR Champions and PGA TOUR-sanctioned tournaments over a three-month stretch. The CME Group Tour Championship and QBE Shootout are both played on Tiburón’s Gold Course, while the Chubb Classic will be contested on the Black Course at Tiburón.
“Hosting three tour events in three months is a credit to the dedication of our entire team,” said Tiburón Golf Club General Manger Kevin DeDonato, PGA. “Hats off to our agronomy team, led by Grayson Grainger, for their hard work in keeping the courses in tournament-ready condition, not just for these three events, but year-round for our resort guests and members.”
Bubba Watson, the newest member of Team Troon, will unveil his Troon-branded golf bag at the QBE Shootout and will be paired with LPGA Tour great Lexi Thompson. Watson will carry the new bag throughout the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. Team Troon is a collection of top international golf talent representing the Troon brand throughout professional golf. Matt Kuchar, a fellow Team Troon member, returns to the QBE Shootout with teammate Harris English to defend their 2020 tournament title. The most successful pairing in Shootout history with three wins, the team has also recorded two runner-up finishes. The duo holds the tournament record for largest margin of victory, nine strokes last year – they also held the previous record when they won by seven strokes in 2013.
