Scott Roberts from the region also wins the North American Championship in Pinehurst, NC
Charlotte, NC. (Dec 2, 2021) – The Amateur Players Tour, a North American golf tour with competitions in 20 states, had a tremendous year throughout the country and in Charlotte, NC. A major highlight of the 2021 season was the North American Championship finale at the historic Pinehurst Resort where the best players in each division from around the country competed for national recognition. The final round was played on the historic Pinehurst No. 2 which many call the toughest test in golf. Our very own Charlotte member, Scott Roberts, took home the trophy and the North American Championship in Division 1. Scott also won the Charlotte tour Player of the Year Award.
360 players across the United States qualified to play in the North American Championship at Pinehurst Resort on October 23-25. 20 states and 33 different cities were represented from across the country.
Building on the success of the inaugural season, the Amateur Players Tour is the fastest-growing amateur tour on the continent. With the local finals completed, champions were crowned in all five divisions:
Division 1: Scott Roberts
Division 2: Wesley Jones
Division 3: Matt Miller
Division 4: Joe Lewis
Division 5: Keith Gibson
Scott Roberts has been a model of consistency all tour season and proved why he is currently one of the best amateurs in the world. “We’re extremely proud of Scott and all that he has been able to accomplish in the inaugural season on our tour. He is an outstanding golfer,” said Charlotte Chapter Owner Phil Vangeersdaelen.
