National Football League Alumni Association to host golf pro-am at Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club prior to big game

Pro Football Hall of Famers Lawrence Taylor and Marshall Faulk among the NFL Legends scheduled to participate

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. – The National Football League Alumni Association (NFL Alumni) – the oldest and most recognizable national organization of retired professional athletes – will host a golf Pro-Am at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club in Orange County, Calif. prior to the championship game.

Taking place Thursday, Feb. 10, the event will feature an 18-hole golf tournament including nine holes with a NFL Alumni member, celebrity chef tailgate dinner, live performance from a country music star, post golf awards party and more. It is limited to 24 foursomes and will be the only golf event on the official NFL Super Bowl calendar of events.

This one-day event will benefit the NFL Player Care Foundation, an independent organization dedicated to helping retired NFL players improve their quality of life by providing programs and assistance with medical, emotional, financial, social and community issues.

“The Player Care Foundation is at the core of our values and we are blessed with the opportunity to benefit them once again,” says NFL Alumni CEO Beasley Reece. “The week of the big game has missed a marquee event like a Pro-Am for a few years now, so we are thrilled to have many legends of the game come together for such a worthy cause.”

Pro Football Hall of Famers Lawrence Taylor and Marshall Faulk, 3x Super Bowl Champion Bart Oates, and 2x NFL All Decade Team member Sean Landeta headline the list of more than 20 football legends scheduled to participate. Each NFL player will captain a team of four amateur golfers as they compete for prizes.

Fans are invited to follow all of the events around the NFL Alumni Pro-Am on the NFL Alumni Instagram & Twitter accounts (both are @NFLAlumni).

“Coto de Caza is honored to be hosting such a distinguished roster of NFL alumni and VIPs this week,” said Kevitt Sale, general manager, Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club. “We look forward to showcasing the world-class golf course and amenities we have here, while supporting the great game of football during its most important week.”

ClubCorp, the owner and operator of Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club and more than 200 other private clubs around the country, is one of several key partners that helped bring the Pro-Am to life. Others include Buffalo Groupe, Ellison Consulting, GOLFTEC, and PGA Magazine.
