Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational set for Feb. 18-20; 17th annual Linger Longer Invitational on tap for March 20-22

GREENSBORO, Ga. (Feb. 7, 2022) Reynolds Lake Oconee will serve as the epicenter for top collegiate golfers during the next four weeks as it plays host to women’s and men’s intercollegiate golf tournaments, including the 17th annual Linger Longer Invitational (LLI) next month.

Hosted by Mercer University, the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational — set for Friday, Feb. 18 to Sunday, Feb. 20 — will attract some of the country’s top women college players. Other highly ranked programs include East Tennessee State, defending champion North Florida, Chattanooga and Wisconsin.

Co-hosted by Mercer University and Kennesaw State University, the LLI is scheduled for March 20-22 and will once again bring out the stars in men’s college golf as eight of the country’s top 35 ranked teams will participate. North Carolina, the No. 5 team in the latest Golfweek rankings, will be joined by Georgia (ranked No. 14), Vanderbilt (21), Clemson (25), South Florida (28), Virginia (32), Florida (33) and Charlotte (34), which last year became the first non-Power Five conference team to capture the event.

Both tournaments will feature individual and team competitions in 54-hole stroke-play on the Jack Nicklaus-designed Great Waters layout, which features no fewer than 10 holes on Lake Oconee and is ranked by Golf Digest as one of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.

Linger Longer Invitational alumni include PGA Tour players with combined earnings of close to $250 million and 46 tour victories. Former LLI participants include four-time major champion Brooks Koepka (Florida State); 2017 PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas (Alabama); 2015 Players champion Rickie Fowler (Oklahoma State); Russell Henley, Harris English, Hudson Swafford, Brian Harman, Keith Mitchell, and Chris Kirk (all Georgia); Beau Hossler (Texas); and Kyle Stanley (Clemson).
