Romeoville, IL – The Mistwood facilities, anchored by the renowned Mistwood Golf Club, celebrates two of their PGA instructors who have been recognized for their commitment to the game. Director of Golf, Andy Mickelson received an honorable mention to the Global Golf Post All-Pro Team 2022, Director of Instruction, John Platt is a four-time winner of the Golf Range Association of America Top 100 Growth of the Game Teaching Professionals as well as the 2021 Illinois PGA Youth Player Development recipient.
Mickelson’s honorable mention to the Global Golf Post All-Pro Team 2022 included a list rating 77 golf professionals from across the country for outstanding performances in 2021, while balancing the duties of their jobs. In addition to his daily responsibilities, Mickelson’s accomplishments and services in 2021 include being the 2021 Illinois PGA Champion, sitting on the Illinois PGA Board of Directors, Illinois PGA Tournament Chair, Illinois PGA Sponsorship Committee Member, and an Illinois PGA Birdies for Charity participant.
“I’m surprised by this honor of being recognized by Global Golf Post,” said Mickelson. “Mistwood is a very special place, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity in representing our golf culture on a daily basis.”
Platt is a four-time winner of the Golf Range Association of America Top 100 Growth of the Game Teaching Professionals. “It’s an honor to receive this award for the fourth year in a row, and rewarding knowing that it’s based on merit,” said Platt. “I appreciate all the students, both juniors and adults, for trusting me to improve their games.”
Platt also received the 2021 Illinois PGA Youth Player Development Award which honors a leader in junior golf who reflects the ideals of those who work with youth golfers. Platt is a Quarter Century Member of the PGA and has seen more than 175 of his students compete in the Illinois High School Association state finals and more than 150 have gone on to play collegiate golf.
