KemperSports selected to manage Cloverbank Country Club

Buffalo-area private club is the 13th addition to company’s growing portfolio this year, adding to its northeast region presence

NORTHBROOK, Ill., June 20, 2022 –  KemperSports announced today that it has been selected

to manage Cloverbank Country Club in Hamburg, N.Y. The club marks the 13th new management deal for KemperSports this year, adding to the company’s growing portfolio. As part of its goal to grow membership and improve member engagement at Cloverbank, KemperSports plans to revitalize the club’s programming calendar and bring more community events and live entertainment to members and guests.

“Cloverbank has a storied history, and we are excited to work with new local and committed ownership to revitalize the club and make it a warm, inviting place for members and their guests,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “We share the members’ passion for the club and look to enhance and grow the experience for years to come.”

Located just south of Buffalo, Cloverbank’s history dates back to 1956 when Bethlehem Steel purchased 400 acres in Hamburg, N.Y., to create the Bethlehem Management Club. The club was established two years later and opened in 1959 with the debut of an 18-hole, 7,061-yard layout designed by father-son duo William and David Gordon. For many years, the club was solely used as a personal playground for Bethlehem Steel employees and their families. In 1987, the club was sold and renamed Brierwood Country Club, a name it held until 2021 when locally based Southwestern Rogers, LLC acquired and reopened it as Cloverbank Country Club.

“We chose KemperSports to manage Cloverbank Country Club because its track record of success is impeccable,” said the Cloverbank Country Club Board of Directors. “The company manages an impressive roster of private clubs across the country that deliver exceptional member experiences. We look forward to bringing its team’s extensive and proven club expertise throughout the Northeast right here to our members.”

In addition to the golf course, Cloverbank also includes a pool, fitness center, bowling alley, banquet facilities and Bobby O’Brian’s, a full-service restaurant open to the public.

Cloverbank becomes the fourth facility and third private club in New York under KemperSports management, joining the Village Club of Sands Point, Lawrence Yacht & Country Club and Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course.
