Summary
The data for golf apparel sales for the month of May has now been released by the US-based number #1 golf market research company, Golf Datatech with news that apparel sales have increased again in dollars, year to date.  Of the 8 apparel categories, 6 went up in May of 2022 vs. 2021, up 4.9% for the month

On a YTD basis, total apparel sales in dollars were up 3.8%, with growth in all eight categories

Compared to 2019 levels, May of 2022 was up 14.0% and YTD was up 21.6%

Men’s Tops and Outerwear were both up the most for the month of May, improving by 17.9% and 11.3% in dollars. Both of these categories are weather sensitive, and sales increases are often the result of less than ideal weather

Said Golf Datatech founder, John Krzynowek, “Golf Apparel sales continue to move higher in dollars, even in the face of some headwinds from weather challenges in the Northern tier during May.  While men’s and women’s shirts, two of the largest market segments, were both down slightly, the other categories picked up the slack and helped drive overall sales higher.

From a channel point of view, golfers appear to be back shopping in person for their golf apparel, with Online sales down significantly and Brick and Mortar Retailers and Pro Shops both improving”.
