The City of San Diego owns and operates Mission Bay Golf Course as well as Torrey Pines Golf Course, a perennial winner on Golf Digest, GOLF Magazine and Golfweek “best-of” course rankings.

Closely collaborating with Harvey Consulting and 3-D Enterprises on Mission Bay, Landscapes Unlimited, upon completing the irrigation system, will install a new pump station in August. The overall facility upgrades by 3-D Enterprises include demolition of the existing clubhouse and construction of two new buildings, one each for golf and food-and-beverage operations.

“We’re very pleased to work with a company like Landscapes Unlimited that has the experience and expertise to collaborate with an irrigation designer and install the appropriate irrigation system tailored to the needs of each of our City golf facilities,” says Scott Bentley, Deputy Director with the City of San Diego’s Golf Division.  “Whether it’s for an iconic PGA Tour course like Torrey Pines or a more relaxed local golf course like Mission Bay, Landscapes installs state-of-the-art irrigation systems which effectively water the golf courses and reduce our overall water usage.”

Landscapes Unlimited has worked with the City of San Diego for more than 20 years, involving renovations and design-build projects to help improve and modernize the City’s golf properties. Torrey Pines, host of the 2021 U.S. Open Championship, was renovated by Landscapes Unlimited’s prior to the competition.

“Our well-trained field teams thoroughly understand the expectations and requirements of the City and all that goes into making first-class experiences for golfers,” says Dave Linngren, Vice President-West Region of Landscapes Unlimited. “Collaboration and communication with the resident engineer, golf course superintendent, designers, staff, and other stakeholders make for seamless and successful execution.”

Encompassing 46 acres within the Pacific Beach community in the heart of San Diego, Mission Bay’s 2,719-yard, par 58 course was designed by Ted Robinson, former president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects.  It features 14 par-3 and four par-4 holes and is the only golf course in San Diego with night lighting. Tiger Woods won a Junior World title at Mission Bay.
