(BUFFALO, N.Y.) - OnCore Golf congratulates professional golfer Louis Kelly who won in historic fashion at the 102nd New Jersey Open Championship presented by Donnelly Industries. Playing with OnCore Golf’s VERO X2, Kelly shot a 10-under (72-65-66) defeating seven-time Korn Ferry Tour winner Jason Gore in a three-hole aggregated playoff.

This was a tournament to remember as Louis Kelly tied the course record in the second round (65) and became the first African American to hoist the C.W. Badenhausen Champions Trophy.

“I don’t take it lightly,” Kelly expressed. “I love being a pioneer and hopefully this is a stepping stone to a larger audience.  I’ve made a few equipment changes recently including the golf ball switch to OnCore Golf’s VERO X2. This ball is a game changer and the best ball I’ve played in my career.”

OnCore Golf is coming off back to back wins as Andy Pope won the 76th Florida Open Championship playing the VERO X1. Pope shot a 15-under (68-63-68) and cruised to the winner’s circle with a three-shot victory over a field of 156 golfers.

“Back to back wins by pro golfers is a huge validation of the performance of these exceptional tour balls and the impact that our unique design and technology is having.  And while we are thrilled to see pro golfers who play OnCore hoisting trophies, we’re even more pleased by the nearly universal praise our recent ball introductions are getting from amateur golfers of a wide range of skill levels.” said Keith Blakely, CEO.  “The VERO X2, which has only been available to professional golfers up to now, will be available for purchase in the next month and we are confident that high swing speed golfers will quickly see the distance, control, and accuracy benefits it provides over the top name-brand tour balls.”

The VERO X2 is a modified version of OnCore’s VERO X1, one of the most highly-regarded, high-performance direct-to-consumer golf balls in recent years.  Engineered using a proprietary core formulation and manufacturing process, it boasts a high modulus, metal-infused mantle connected to a thin, cast urethane cover by a nano-engineered transition layer. The VERO X2 has a higher compression rating than the VERO X1 – 95 vs. 85 – and firmer feel optimal for players with high swing speeds.

The VERO X2 delivers low driver spin and a high, wind-penetrating trajectory for maximum distance and accuracy.  The ball delivers an optimized spin profile with irons and a trajectory engineered for stopping power on firm greens.  With OnCore’s proprietary perimeter-weighting technology that significantly reduces sidespin and bores through headwinds and crosswinds, the ball is without peer in challenging conditions.
