Cabo’s finest clubs offer discounted green fees and twilight rates through October
LOS CABOS, Mexico (August 19, 2022) – Golfers visiting Los Cabos this summer and early fall can expect well-groomed courses, lots of sunshine, plenty of availability—and deeply discounted green fees. Summer is family vacation time, but it’s also the season that invites players to take a swing at bargain rates at six championship-caliber courses.
Questro Golf, which oversees three first-rate facilities in Los Cabos, offers substantial seasonal discounts through Oct. 31.
Questro Golf’s Club Campestre San Jose, located 15 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport, is a local favorite. This multi-themed Nicklaus Design venue, melded into sloping desert terrain creased by winding arroyos, offers emerald-green fairways, large undulating greens and a surfeit of well-placed bunkers. The Sea of Cortes is in view from every hole. In addition to a green fee of $140 from 7:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m., there’s a twilight rate of $100 after 12:30 p.m. Club Campestre offers the best bang for the buck in Los Cabos.
At Cabo Real, situated in the center of the Tourist Corridor, the club’s Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed course presents a scenic, memorable test that climbs from the beachfront on the front nine into rugged foothills nearly 500 feet above the sea on the demanding back nine. Fairways here sprawl across ridgetops and teeter along the edges of deep canyons. Big bunkers and mounds that mimic the mountains defend the elevated greens. The green fee at Cabo Real is $180, with a twilight rate of $125.
Puerto Los Cabos, sited on the outskirts of San Jose del Cabo, is a superb 27-hole complex with an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature course and a nine-hole design by Greg Norman. Subtly contoured greens, large, sculpted bunkers and dramatic elevation changes mark the Nicklaus I & II nines, which were built 10 years apart yet blend together perfectly. The Norman Course, marked by flashed-face bunkers evocative of Australia’s Sandbelt courses, has over 400 feet of elevation change. All 27 holes offer panoramic views of the coastline and sea, with three 18-hole combinations available for play. The summer green fee is $220; the twilight rate is $160. Rates include complimentary food and beverages served at the on-course palapas.
At each Questro Golf course, green fees include 18 holes, one shared golf cart per round, use of driving range prior to round, and bottled water.
Questro Golf’s “Triple Crown” promotion, priced at $380, invites golfers to play one round at each Questro course. The personal, non-transferable golf pass is valid for 14 days once the initial round is played. https://questrogolf.com/
Palmilla Golf Club, home to the first Jack Nicklaus Signature course built in Latin America (1992), offers a segmented system of discounted rates for outside play through Oct. 31. Mid-day rates at the 27-hole club are $140; the twilight rate bottoms out at $110. Considered the “Grande Dame” of Los Cabos golf, Palmilla’s Mountain, Arroyo and Ocean nines, tucked into a box-shaped canyon framed by boulder-strewn arroyos and vast waste bunkers, offer splendid sea views and admirable versatility from multiple sets of tees. Not on a budget? Opt for the Unlimited Golf Offer at One&Only Palmilla, a legendary 5-star resort set on the Sea of Cortes five minutes from the golf club. https://www.palmillagc.com/
Set back from the Pacific Ocean, Rancho San Lucas, opened in 2020, is the destination’s newest venue. Spanning three different ecosystems, this breezy, low-profile layout designed by Greg Norman rambles through giant dunes at the start, climbs through a cactus forest crossed by arroyos, and returns players to the beach and sea on the back nine. Two on-course comfort stations serve complimentary Mexican fare and refreshments. A ranchero-style clubhouse overlooks the fairways and sea. Guests of Solmar Group hotels, including the on-site Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas Resort, can access the golf club. Through Oct. 31, the resort guest rate is $185. Greens fee drops to $125 after 3:00 p.m. (plus 16% tax). https://ranchosanlucas.com/
At Quivira Golf Club, its epic Jack Nicklaus-designed course marked by massive dunes, sheer cliffs and desert foothills, guests of Pueblo Bonito Resorts can take advantage of summer rates through Sept. 30. Recently voted to Golf Digest’s list of the “World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses,” Quivira, a gravity-defying marvel that clings to its Land’s End site high above the sea, is priced at $275 for the mid-morning period from 11:00 a.m. to 12:24 p.m. The twilight rate, available from 12:36 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., is $233. Rates include refreshments and Mexican specialties at the club’s four comfort stations. The preferred place to stay is the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort located five minutes from the club. https://www.quiviraloscabos.com/golf
