USGA turns to Meghan Stasi to lead 2024 U.S. Curtis Cup squad; TaylorMade introduces Stealth 2 family; GWAA honors Scottie Scheffler, Lydia Ko, Steven Alker

Announced: By Nexen Tire America, the four individual winners of its Topgolf Challenge promotional contest that totaled 41,000 entries. Nexen Tire is the official tire of Topgolf Cleveland in Richfield, Ohio.

Announced: By Giants Ridge, that both its championship courses — The Quarry and The Legend — are ranked in Golfweek's annual Top Resort Course Rankings. The Quarry is tied for 35th, while the The Legend is 119th. Giants Ridge is located in Biwabik, Minnesota.

Appointed: By Chervo, Andrew Green as its new U.K. and Ireland country manager. Green has previously worked at Nike Golf, PGB Sports (Calvin Klein Golf, Green Lamb, Dwyer’s and Cutter & Buck) and Therabody.

Introduced: By TaylorMade Golf, its all-new Stealth HD irons, along with the second generation Stealth 2 Plus, Stealth 2 and Stealth 2 HD drivers, and Stealth 2 fairway and Stealth 2 Rescue family. The clubs are available for preorder and will be at retail on Feb. 17, 2023.

Announced: By Lyle & Scott, plans to exhibit its apparel line at the 2023 PGA Show, January 24-27 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The U.K.-based Lyle & Scott launched in the United States in 2022, but the company dates back to the brand's first-ever collection of golfwear in the 1950s.

Confirmed: By the Aramco Saudi Ladies International, that world No. 1 Lydia Ko will play the tournament at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia, Feb. 16-19. Ko won the tournament, which has an increased prize purse of $5 million, in 2021.

Named: By the USGA, four-time U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion Meghan Stasi, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as captain of the 2024 U.S. Curtis Cup Team. Stasi was a member of the victorious 2008 U.S. Curtis Cup Team at St. Andrews in Scotland. Stasi’s four U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur titles (2006, 2007, 2010, 2012) are tied for the most in the championship’s 35-year history.

Announced: By the Annika Foundation, that five of the AJGA's top-ranked players will play in the Hilton Grand Vacations Annika Invitational, Jan. 14-17 at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. Invited are Gianna Clemente (ranked No. 1; Estero, Florida), Yanna Wilson (No.3; Henderson, Nevada), Rianne Malixi (No. 4; San Bernardino, California), 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion Anna Davis (No. 6; Spring Valley, California) and Alice Ziyi Zhao (No. 10, Irvine, California).

Voted: By the Golf Writers Association of America, Scottie Scheffler, Lydia Ko and Steven Alker as the 2022 Players of the Year in their respective divisions. Ko, voted Female Player of the Year, is the only golfer among the three to have been previously honored as a player of the year by the GWAA. She won in 2015. Scheffler (Male Player of the Year) and Alker (Senior Player of the Year) earned GWAA honors for the first time. All three will be honored at the 49th annual ISPS Handa/GWAA Awards Dinner on April 5 in Augusta, Georgia.
