OnCore official golf ball sponsor of Zo’s Celebrity Golf Classic

Leading direct-to-consumer golf ball maker and technology company partners with NBA legend Alonzo Mourning

(BUFFALO, N.Y.) – OnCore Golf, the game’s leading direct-to-consumer golf ball maker, is the official sponsor of Zo’s Celebrity Golf Classic hosted by NBA Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning on January 16th at the JW Marriott Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura, Fla.

The wildly popular celebrity event benefits the Mourning Family Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by “Zo” Mourning and Tracy Wilson Mourning focusing on youth development through advocacy, education and enrichment. Since 1997, the Mourning Family Foundation has served thousands of children and their families by raising over $25 million to support various youth development programs

OnCore Golf is coming off a history-making year in which it debuted two new golf balls – the three-piece ELIXR 2022 and the four-piece, Tour-caliber VERO X2. The Buffalo-based brand is known within the golf industry and among its loyal customers for its proprietary, perimeter weighting that produces straighter (and thus longer) ball flight. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot are brand ambassadors, and OnCore has a long track record of supporting athlete and celebrity-driven golf events.

“We’re honored to team up with Zo to support the Mourning Family Foundation and help all the participants play their best golf with OnCore balls,” said OnCore Co-Founder Bret Blakely. “It’s been exciting and humbling to be a part of so many wonderful golf-focused fundraising opportunities over the past decade, and we look forward to helping everyone at Zo’s play their best golf.”

The VERO X2 will be widely played at Zo’s Celebrity Golf Classic. OnCore’s second-generation tour-level ball from the VERO family features a four-piece construction boasting a super-fast core and a high modulus, metal-infused mantle connected to a thin, cast urethane cover by a nano-engineered transition layer. The VERO X2 has a higher compression rating than the VERO X1 – 95 vs. 85 – and firmer feel optimal for players with high swing speeds.

Leveraging the same unique architecture as the VERO X1, the VERO X2 delivers low driver spin and a high, wind-penetrating trajectory for even greater distance and accuracy. This combination brings an optimized spin profile with irons and a trajectory engineered for stopping power on firm greens. In its first year, the X2 was named to Golf Digest’s Hot List and was the winning ball in multiple professional tournaments.

Zo’s Celebrity Golf Classic directly benefits the philanthropic endeavors of the Mourning Family Foundation, which seeks to enhance the lives of children and families in the South Florida community through advocacy, education and enrichment services via the Overtown Youth Center and Honey Shin Inc. serving hundreds of students ranging from ages 8 to 25.
