Former Buffalo Bill, Eric Wood joins OnCore Golf as an investor and ambassador

BUFFALO, NY –OnCore Golf announces that former Buffalo Bill Eric Wood is joining its team as an ambassador and shareholder. Wood joins other NFL players, including Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills, QB) and Ezekiel Elliott (Dallas Cowboys, RB).

“We are thrilled to have Eric on board,” says OnCore CEO Keith Blakely “An avid golfer, he became a fan of OnCore after seeing how the VERO X1 and X2 balls delivered immediate and noticeable performance benefits in his own game. Since retiring from the NFL, Eric has transitioned from football to launching his own media company and getting involved in several new ventures where the products were, in his experience, top-notch.”

The Bills selected Wood in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He spent nine seasons anchoring the team’s offensive line, starting a total of 120 games and earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2015. He was Buffalo’s nominee for the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2015 and 2016.  Wood helped the Bills make the playoffs in 2017, ending the team's postseason drought.

Following life on the gridiron, Wood is now a 4-handicap with memberships at Medalist and Valhalla Golf Clubs and has embarked on several business ventures, focusing on companies that align with his values and passion.

“Being passionate about golf and so engrained in the local sports community, I was surprised to learn that there was a golf company located right here in Buffalo,” says Wood. “I think when everyone hears that, they laugh it off, but I can tell you that OnCore Golf is the real deal. The quality of ball that they produce and the technology they are bringing to the golf ball market is, in my opinion, the best there is, which led to my decision to invest in the company.”

OnCore Golf continues to push the design envelope of conforming balls meeting the USGA’s limits on maximum initial velocity and overall distance. Its golf balls unilaterally deliver a proprietary high moment of inertia (MOI) that pushes mass to the perimeter resulting in a more forgiving ball, greater distance, and straighter ball flight. In 2022, OnCore introduced the VERO X2 – a Tour-caliber four-piece ball played by PGA TOUR / Korn Ferry Tour player Erik Compton – and the redesigned three-piece ELIXR.
