SCOTTSDALE, AZ (February 21, 2023) — 8AM Golf is pleased to announce that the second annual Bridges Cup, a 12-vs-12 man team competition featuring top amateurs from the United States and Europe, will be held April 27-30, 2023 at the prestigious Les Bordes Golf Club in France.
In the spirit of the Ryder Cup which will also be taking place on European soil later this year, the competitors taking part in the Bridges Cup were selected based on their achievements in the game — including winning exclusive invitationals and USGA events as well as competing in major championships.
Each team was chosen by their respective captains. Jeff Fujimoto and David Porter are the co-captains for the U.S. while Simon Holt and playing captain Tom Etridge, who is a Les Bordes member, will be at the helm for the European squad.
Following the opening ceremony and practice round on April 28th, the 72-hole Ryder Cup-format event will begin in earnest on April 29th, with morning and afternoon four-ball sessions. On April 30th, there will be foursome matches in the morning followed by singles matches in the afternoon to determine the winner. Round trip airfare for the visiting American team will be provided by all-business-class boutique airline La Compagnie.
“The success of our inaugural Bridges Cup tournament last year exceeded our highest expectations and I was honored to be a part of it,” said Hoyt McGarity, CEO of 8AM Golf. “I can’t wait to see this year’s impressive crop of players competing at a course as magnificent as Les Bordes.”
The Bridges Cup will be preceded one week earlier by another exciting event, the second-annual 8AM Golf Invitational. The spirited, fun-first competition will take place at Wynn Las Vegas from April 20-22 and will again be hosted by 8AM Golf partner Justin Timberlake and feature celebrities from the world of sports and entertainment. The inaugural 8AM Golf Invitational last year was won by Kansas City Chiefs’ teammates and newly crowned Super Bowl champs Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
