Big Cypress Golf Club honored by Golf Channel’s Golf Pass

Championship South Course hailed as ‘Best in Florida’ and ‘Best in U.S.’

(LAKELAND, Fla.) – Big Cypress Golf Club – the Ron Garl-designed facility nestled among the cypress trees of North Polk County – has been honored by Golf Channel’s Golf Pass as a “2023 Golfers’ Choice: Best Golf Courses in Florida” and “Best in U.S.”

Ranked No. 3 best course in Florida and the No. 21 best course in the U.S., the Championship South Course at Big Cypress Golf Club is praised for its impeccable conditions, welcoming members and friendly staff. The premier ranking comes against over 650 public access courses in the golf-rich Sunshine State.

The annual Golf Pass Golfers' Choice lists are compiled by analyzing the ratings and analysis submitted by members of its review community. Report cards from trusted and active members are weighted heavier than inactive members. Courses must offer public access and have received at least one assessment to be eligible for the current year's list.

“To be recognized among the best golf courses in a competitive state such as Florida and throughout the U.S. is deeply gratifying,” says Allen Tener, head golf professional at Big Cypress Golf Club. “Golf Pass provides the most accurate way to discern how we are doing and it is a testament to the hard work and long hours our staff puts in to make sure everyone has a memorable experience.”

Opened in 1987, Big Cypress Golf Club features two extraordinary courses: the 3,494-yard, 18-hole, par-60 North Executive course designed by noted course architect Chip Powell and the impressive 6,650-yard, 18-hole Championship South course, designed by Ron Garl.
