Learn to teach golf — one of the most desirous avocations available today for golfers

If you want to learn how to teach golf, here are some steps you can take:

  1. Develop your own golf skills: To teach golf effectively, you need to have a solid understanding of the game and be able to play at a high level yourself. Spend time practicing your own golf skills and improving your game.
  2. Learn about teaching methods and techniques: There are many different approaches to teaching golf, and it's important to familiarize yourself with a variety of methods and techniques. You can read books, take online courses, and attend seminars and workshops to learn more about golf instruction.
  3. Gain experience working with golfers: To become a successful golf teacher, you need to have experience working with golfers of all skill levels. Offer your services as a volunteer coach or assistant at a local golf course or driving range to gain hands-on experience.
  4. Get certified: While certification is not always required to teach golf, it can demonstrate your level of expertise and give you an edge over other instructors. Consider getting certified through organizations such as the Professional Golf Teachers Association of America (PGTAA) www.PGTAA.com,  or if you have the time and finances available, the PGA offers a 3-5 year program).
  5. Continue learning: To stay up-to-date with the latest teaching techniques and methods, you must continue to learn and improve your skills. Attend conferences, read industry publications, and take online courses to stay informed and expand your knowledge.
