Folds of Honor named sponsor of Insperity Invitational’s Greats of Golf competition

Folds of Honor support continues unique Greats of Golf tradition at PGA TOUR Champions event in The Woodlands

HOUSTON, Texas – Folds of Honor will help bring the Greats of Golf back to The Woodlands, TX this spring, thanks to a new partnership struck with the Insperity Invitational presented by UnitedHealthcare.

One of the great traditions of the award-winning tournament on the PGA TOUR Champions schedule that celebrates 10 years in 2023 will now be a vehicle for change, especially in the lives of the families of our fallen and disabled military and first responders. The Folds of Honor Greats of Golf exhibition is a spectator-friendly 9-hole scramble featuring 16 golf legends during the second round of the Insperity Invitational, April 29.

Folds of Honor is proud to be a charitable partner of the Insperity Invitational, and the organization—led by Founder and CEO, Lt. Colonel Dan Rooney, the only F-16 fighter pilot in history to also be a PGA of America Golf Professional—is excited to provide this rare opportunity to its supporters.

"With the support of our patriotic partners, the Insperity Invitational, and the Folds of Honor South Texas Chapter, the Folds of Honor Greats of Golf will provide the spouses and children of Houston's brave heroes with educational opportunities that they need and deserve," said Lt Col Rooney.

"Supporting the Folds of Honor Greats of Golf is a wonderful way to honor the selfless commitment of our military and first responders, and to demonstrate to their families that their sacrifices are not forgotten.  Folds of Honor has a long-standing relationship with many outstanding golf partners that continue to demonstrate how philanthropic this game truly is.  We are humbled by the commitment of the PGA TOUR Champions players to the Folds of Honor mission and their unwavering dedication to those who defend and protect our communities and country every day.  I’m honored to attend the Insperity Invitational and to share the Folds of Honor mission with the players and fans."

For the past decade, the Greats of Golf has entertained Insperity Invitational patrons at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course, and to a global television audience on Golf Channel with the likes of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Nancy Lopez, Annika Sorenstam and countless more Hall-of-Famers and golf icons.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome the legends of the game back to southern Texas with the addition of a new generous community partner in Folds of Honor,” said Bryan Naugle, Executive Director, Insperity Invitational. “We feel very privileged to have the opportunity to bring the greatest names in the game of golf to the Houston area. This collection of 16 legends each year are true ambassadors and role models in our sport. Regardless of your age, each Saturday at the Insperity Invitational is about being part of something special that promises to inspire, and we are delighted to continue this tradition in 2023 with Folds of Honor.”

The 2023 Folds of Honor Greats of Golf will be a platform to raise awareness and funds for Folds of Honor, and its mission to provide academic scholarships for children and spouses of our military and first responders, who were lost or disabled while serving our country and communities.

The Folds of Honor South Texas Chapter is honored to be the benefactor of the proceeds from this one-of-a-kind charitable event.

“We are proud to support our military service members, first responders, and their families, and we strive to meet sacrifice with hope,” said John Nemecek, President of the Folds of Honor South Texas Chapter. “Together with your help, we will honor the sacrifice of those who serve and defend our nation though military service or as a first responder by educating their legacy.  We encourage participation in this tax-deductible, charitable event—be it from avid golfers, business owners, corporations, foundations, professional athletes, celebrities, sports organizations, community groups, affinity groups, or proud patriots.  Your participation and support of The Folds of Honor Greats of Golf Pro-Am demonstrates the shared belief in the importance of the Folds of Honor mission of providing continuous support to our veterans, first responders, and their families. This truly unique golf event is a wonderful way to honor the sacrifices of our military and first responders with a salute from the green, and a heroic round of golf for the red, white, and blue.”
