Lakewood, Fla. (April 17, 2023) – Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch Head Golf Professional Michael Tuohy was recently honored by the North Florida Section of the PGA of America Southwestern Chapter as the 2023 Merchandiser of the Year for public golf courses and with the 2023 Professional Development Award. The awards were presented to Tuohy at the Section’s annual meeting. The Merchandiser of the Year Award recognizes PGA Professionals who have excelled as business persons/merchandisers in the promotion of golf, while the Player Development Award recognizes a PGA Professional for extraordinary and exemplary contributions and achievements in the area of player development.
Tuohy has been the Head Professional at Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch in Lakewood, Fla. since February 2020 and has more than 20 years of golf and hospitality industry experience. He is a 10-time North Florida PGA Chapter and Section award winner, including being named Merchandiser of the Year on the Chapter or Sectional level nine times. Tuohy’s PGA awards include:

Tuohy first started in the golf industry at the age of 16, leading to his career as a golf professional. He became a member of the PGA of America in 2016 and discovered a niche in golf merchandising. Tuohy has a unique talent for finding the next new and exciting product, always staying one-step ahead of the competition.
