3M Open odds 2023: Young favored to win, Finau looking to challenge

Following his impressive T-6 performance at the John Deere Classic, Cameron Young's odds for the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool were surprisingly high, exceeding +6000 odds. Despite the skepticism, Young nearly proved the doubters wrong, securing a top-eight finish in the season's final major for the second consecutive year.

Now, as bettors eye the 3M Open in Minnesota, they'll find the pre-tournament favorite in Cameron Young, who is listed at +1400 odds on most betting sites in the US to win the open. While he returns to familiar territory as a tournament favorite, it's important to note that this will be his first appearance at TPC Twin Cities, leaving no course history to assess.

This is where someone like Tony Finau, who has plenty of experience with this course, could give Young a run for his money.

Tony Finau (+1600) stands as the clear favorite to challenge Young, with a proven track record at the event, having won it last year in 2022 and secured a third-place tie in 2020. Two other likely contenders to win the 3M Open are Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im, both listed at the same odds as Finau.

One of the biggest surprises leading into the tournament is Justin Thomas opening with shockingly-low odds of +2800. While his name alone could position him as the top favorite, his recent poor form has led to a lower ranking on the board. Struggling with rounds of 82 and 71 at Hoylake, he faced disappointment in another major, recording a round of 80 or higher for the second consecutive time. Nevertheless, a glimpse of hope emerged with his T-9 finish at the Travelers Championship, highlighted by a remarkable third-round score of 62. Thomas will be looking to regain form at the 3M Open, meaning opportunistic bettors may be able to get some extra value by backing the two-time PGA Championship winner this week.
