In 2023, this record was broken, with a total of 531 million rounds, beating the previous record of 529 million rounds in 2021. At the end of 2023, the United States had almost 16,000 golf courses and over 14,000 golf facilities, more than the number of Starbucks or McDonald's in the entire country, as pointed out by the National Golf Foundation.
