HOUSTON, Texas (April 23, 2024) – Concert Golf Partners’ dual acquisition of Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club and Northgate Country Club near Houston was ranked as one of the Top 10 stories of the past year (#7) in Golf Inc. Magazine’s current cover story.

These iconic clubs helped Concert’s portfolio rise to what is now 33 private clubs across America and marked the company’s entry into Texas. Concert Golf was praised for “helping to further its goal of preserving and enhancing private clubs.”

The magazine also stated that “course sales had one of the best years ever” and presented a very positive forecast for growth in the future. Concert Golf Partners acquired both Walden and Northgate from private club industry veteran Dan McIntyre last November. McIntyre, who bought Walden in 2004 and Northgate in 2012, chose Concert Golf Partners as his successor after investigating a broad field of buyers, including other owner-operators. “It is obvious that Concert Golf is committed to preserving and enhancing the culture that I worked hard to create at the Clubs,” said McIntyre. “Their experience and efficiency throughout our interaction made the decision easy.” “Dan McIntyre built two incredible clubs in Houston,” said Concert Golf Partners Senior Vice President Jordan Peace. “We’re excited to invest millions of dollars into the Clubs over the coming years, all at no cost or assessment to the members, while continuing to provide an exceptional membership experience.”

This is the second media outlet to praise Concert’s purchase of Walden and Northgate, as the Houston Business Journal highlighted the acquisition as a “Deal of the Week” last December. The publication praised Concert’s role in sparking a “dramatic shift” in the golf and country club industry. Established in 1983, Northgate Country Club is considered North Houston’s premier golf club and the centerpiece of the upscale Northgate Forest community. Northgate features 18 holes of Championship Golf designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge, an executive 5-hole course aptly named the “Fast-Five,” eight lighted tennis courts, three pools, and a clubhouse for member dining, social events, and the member-favorite Sunday Brunch. Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club, located 45 minutes north of Northgate on beautiful Lake Conroe, opened in 1976, and is ranked among the “Top 100 Golf Courses in Texas” for 2024 by the Dallas Morning News. Previously, Golf Digest ranked Walden Golf Club as the best course in the Houston area; and the 5th best in the state of Texas. In addition, GOLF Magazine once ranked the par 5, 11th hole as one of the top 500 holes in the world. Holes 11–13, situated on a peninsula, are notoriously challenging and commonly referred to as the “Walden Triangle,” a nod to the Bermuda Triangle.
