Steady signs for retail sales

The US golf retail sales figures are published by us today, with data for May 2024. Overall retail sales were up 0.3% for the month of May and 0.5 basis YTD.

May 2024 was 31.0% higher than May ’19 (last pre-pandemic year), and YTD sales are +34.8%

Six categories are higher in May ’24 than ’23, led by Wedges (+8.9%) and Putters (+8.8%), while the products with the greatest declines was shoes (-10.4%).

On the latest results, Golf Datatech co-founder, John Krzynowek said, “In the face of what is expected to be a relatively weak rounds played month in May ’24, overall, On/Off Course sales of equipment held level (+0.3%) for the month. So far in 2024, there hasn’t been any significant slowdown in sales of golf equipment, with the exception of footwear, which has been sliding for the past two years.“
