Nelly Korda clinches LPGA Player of the Year honors; USGA invites 16 to Walker Cup practice session

LPGA Tour: Nelly Korda clinches the 2024 Rolex Player of the Year award with three tournaments remaining in the 2024 season. She is the second consecutive American to earn the Rolex Player of the Year, following Lilia Vu in 2023. It is the first time that Americans have won the award in back-to-back years since Betsy King (1993) and Beth Daniel (1994). Korda is the 27th different player to earn the award since its inception in 1966. Korda won six times, including her second major title at the Chevron Championship. Korda also represented the United States in women’s golf competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics and made her fourth appearance on the U.S. Solheim Cup Team in September.

U.S. Golf Association: The International Team Selection Working Group has invited 16 players to attend a practice session Dec. 14-16 for the 2025 Walker Cup Match. The three days of practice will be held in Jupiter, Florida, at McArthur Golf Club, Seminole Golf Club and The Bear’s Club. The following 16 players have accepted invitations to the practice session: Evan Beck, 34, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Parker Bell, 20, of Tallahassee, Florida; Blades Brown, 17, of Nashville, Tennessee; Luke Clanton, 20, of Hialeah, Florida; Ethan Fang, 19, of Plano, Texas; Stewart Hagestad, 33, of Newport Beach, California; Max Herendeen, 19, of Bellevue, Washington; Ben James, 21, of Milford, Connecticut; Noah Kent, 20, of Naples, Florida; Jackson Koivun, 19, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Michael La Sasso, 20, of Raleigh, North Carolina; Bryan Lee, 20, of Fairfax, Virginia; Tommy Morrison, 20, of Dallas, Texas; Jase Summy, 20, of Keller, Texas; Brendan Valdes, 21, of Orlando, Florida; and Jackson Van Paris, 21, of Pinehurst, North Carolina.
