Northwell Health named healthcare provider for the 2025 Ryder Cup

NEW YORK (November 12, 2024)  — The PGA of America today named Northwell Health as the Official Healthcare Provider of the 2025 Ryder Cup, which will be held at Bethpage Black, in Farmingdale, New York, September 23 - 28, 2025.

With 21 hospitals, more than 900 outpatient facilities and approximately 90,000 employees throughout the New York metropolitan area, Northwell is New York State’s largest healthcare provider and is headquartered on Long Island—also home to Bethpage State Park. Northwell will provide all necessary medical services to promote a safe Ryder Cup for players, spectators and volunteers, utilizing three on-course medical stations staffed by Northwell emergency medicine physicians and orthopedic surgeons, as well as registered nurses and certified athletic trainers. Northwell staff will also provide health and wellness education for attendees.

Emergency care will be covered by Northwell’s Center for Emergency Medical Services, the largest hospital-based ambulance service in the metropolitan area, which responds to over 200,000 medical emergencies each year.

Northwell Health and the Metropolitan PGA Section will also provide community & care resources, as well as career development opportunities to Veterans and Military Service populations, highlighted by Northwell’s ongoing partnership with the Metropolitan PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) program. PGA HOPE is the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America, which introduces golf to Veterans and Active Duty Military to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being.

“We’re excited to build on the relationship with Northwell Health, which was established around the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black,” said PGA of America Director of Championship Sales and Partnerships John Handley. “Northwell Health will play an integral role with the Medical Services program at the Ryder Cup, and we couldn’t have a better partner in this space.”

“As New York’s largest health care provider our mission is to improve the health of the communities we serve and we are honored to provide medical services and health and wellness education to all who play or attend this year’s Ryder Cup,” said Michael Dowling, President and CEO of Northwell Health. “As the official healthcare provider, we are pleased to offer our clinical expertise to ensure a safe and successful competition for everyone attending this premier sporting event.”

Since its inception in 1927, the Ryder Cup has evolved into one of the world’s premier sporting events. It combines sportsmanship, tradition and pride in a captivating competition unlike any other. The Ryder Cup will be contested in New York for just the second time, and first since 1995, next September.
