Matt Borocz named TPC Sawgrass general manager

Borocz has served as TPC Sawgrass assistant general manager for 11 years

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida – TPC Sawgrass, home of THE PLAYERS Championship, has announced its new general manager, Matt Borocz. With more than 20 years of service at TPC Sawgrass, Borocz brings a vast amount of knowledge and dedication to the position.

“Matt has been an invaluable member of our team for the past 21 years, contributing significantly to the club’s success while providing an unparalleled experience throughout the year, including during THE PLAYERS Championship,” said Vic Aliprando, Senior Vice President of TPC Operations. “His leadership and deep understanding of our operations make him uniquely qualified to step into this role, and we are confident he will continue to serve the club with the same excellence and care that he has always demonstrated.”

Borocz – who had served as acting general manager since January – succeeds Derek Sprague, who was named Chief Executive Officer of the PGA of America in December after seven years at TPC Sawgrass.

A native of Ohio, Borocz most recently served as the assistant general manager at TPC Sawgrass, where he has spent the last 11 years committed to the club’s growth while working to provide members and guests with an unmatched experience. Borocz has already led the TPC Sawgrass staff in hosting a successful 51st edition of THE PLAYERS Championship.

“It’s a true honor to be trusted to lead the club I’ve called home for the past 21 years as I continue to work alongside this passionate and dedicated group of people,” Borocz said. “I’m excited to elevate the already remarkable experience here in Ponte Vedra Beach, ensuring our members and guests continue to enjoy our world-class golf courses and exceptional service while making unforgettable memories both on and off the course.”

Borocz began his career with the TPC Network in 1999 at TPC Myrtle Beach, starting in outside operations before advancing to assistant golf professional. He joined TPC Sawgrass in 2004, serving as assistant golf professional before being named head golf professional in 2007. He was promoted to assistant general manager in 2014.

A graduate of the PGA Golf Management program at Coastal Carolina University, Borocz has been a longstanding member of the PGA of America since 2004 and currently serves as the President of North Florida PGA Section.
