Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico, May 12, 2025 – The MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba will mark history in the national sport, as it marks the return of the LPGA Tour to Mexico after eight years and becomes the first and only sporting event in Mexico that will have the MEXICO brand as title sponsor.
MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba will be the official name of the event, which will be held May 22-25 at the emblematic El Camaleón course at Mayakoba.
In recent days, Gustavo Santoscoy Arriaga, Chairman of GS Sports Management, met with Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, Secretary of Tourism of the Federal Government, and with Bernardo Cueto, Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo, to discuss the organization of the event and reached a title sponsorship agreement.
The MEXICO brand is based on the cultural and touristic richness that positions Mexico as a country of great wealth that has a lot to offer to national and international tourists.
Each of the letters that make up the MEXICO logo, adorned inside with different designs, allude to and represent a particular area that the country has to offer those who visit.
M: Pre-Colombian riches
É: Vice-royal heritage
X: Fusion of cultures
I: Modernity expressed through architecture and monuments
C: Natural resources
O: Beaches and coasts
“We are very pleased to have the support of such an important brand,” said Santoscoy Arriaga, Chairman of GS Sports Management. “The fact that it joins the LPGA Tour's return to our country speaks of this government's commitment to promote the sport.”
The tournament will feature 144 players, including Mexicans Gaby Lopez, Maria Fassi, Isabella Fierro and Clarisa Temelo, who will play 72 holes over the four days of competition. The MEXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba will distribute a purse of 2.5 million dollars.
