Broken Top Club investing in future
with series of amenity enhancements

Bend, Oregon (May 14, 2025) – Since opening in 1994, the Broken Top Club in Bend, Ore. has long been considered one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier private club experiences. A series of transformational projects are currently underway focused on improving and/or expanding club amenities, delivering value to members and continuing Broken Top’s positive trajectory for decades to come.

Three projects represent more than $1.5 million in capital investments, including a new Pro Shop, a new Lakehouse and construction of a new Pickleball Court Complex.

  • Pro Shop: Broken Top’s new 1,500 sq. ft. Pro Shop is designed to provide a more welcoming and upgraded check-in and shopping experience for members. The new shop will include expanded retail space, a changing room, a check-in desk and product storage.
  • The Lakehouse: The club’s former Pro Shop is being repurposed into a new bistro with food and beverage service. The Lakehouse will be open for all Broken Top members, guests, and residents to enjoy alfresco dining from a shaded patio/breezeway and a viewing deck. The new Pro Shop building and The Lakehouse will be connected by a wrap-around deck overlooking Charley Berry Lake.
  • Pickleball Court Complex: All eight of the club’s courts are being replaced with new Professional Pickleball Association standardized courts providing improved playability. New perimeter fencing and court barriers (to prevent balls from straying into other playing areas) will be part of the new complex.

Work on the Pickleball Court Complex is underway with anticipated completion expected by the end of May, while preliminary site work has begun on the Pro Shop and The Lakehouse with construction expected to begin in August.

To further improve Broken Top’s award-winning golf experience, future golf-centric projects are in the planning stages including installation of a state-of-the-art irrigation system. The new irrigation system will allow the agronomy team to control each sprinkler head individually for precise watering, better coverage and reduced water usage. The project will enhance course conditions and cement the club’s Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish layout as a premier venue in Central Oregon.  Phase one of the irrigation system will be completed in 2025 with the installation of a new pump system.

“Over the past two years, club leadership, in partnership with Troon, have used member feedback and industry trends to carefully craft a thoughtful and forward-looking vision for Broken Top Club,” said Broken Top Club Board President Steve Terry. “With the investments being made in the club, we’re all extremely excited about the club’s trajectory and future. All of the projects are focused on enhancing the member experience, attracting new members, and advancing Broken Top’s position as a premier private club.”

In May, the club celebrates the one-year anniversary of the two tournament-size bocce ball courts lined with artificial turf that were built on the sunrise patio, adjacent to the clubhouse for easy food and beverage service.  Bocce ball has become very popular at Broken Top with ongoing competitive league matches.

Beyond amenity improvements, Broken Top’s management team is also enhancing the member experience, adding more club events, updating menus with fresh seasonal offerings, and increasing training and service levels.

“By investing in our club's amenities and employees we’re fostering long-term sustainability while preserving Broken Top’s unique charm,” added Terry.

Nestled in Oregon's Cascade Mountains, Broken Top has been voted one of North America's five finest communities and top 10 private golf courses. Club members enjoy a vast array of amenities including an award-winning Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish-designed golf course, an expansive practice area that includes an 18-hole putting complex, a golf performance center, multiple courts for racquet sports, two bocce ball courts, and a fitness center with a yoga studio spa and steam rooms. Broken Top’s 27,000-square-foot clubhouse overlooks a six-acre lake and showcases stunning views of the Cascade Mountains.  With a massive wood-burning fireplace, exposed timber trestles and rough-hewn rock, the clubhouse offers a casually elegant place for members and guests to relax and unwind. The expansive Broken Top Restaurant is the cornerstone of the clubhouse.
