Brittany Lang named assistant captain for 2026 U.S. Solheim Cup Team

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 3, 2025) – U.S. Solheim Cup Team Captain Angela Stanford has selected Brittany Lang as her third assistant captain for the 2026 U.S. Team. Lang will join Stanford and fellow Assistant Captains Kristy McPherson and Paula Creamer in leading a team of the top 12 American female golfers at the Solheim Cup, which will be held at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands, from Sept. 11-13, 2026.

“The traits that have always impressed me the most about Brittany are her confidence and her demeanor. If Lang has ever been rattled, you would never know. She has a very no-nonsense look about the task at hand and that's what makes her perfect for an away game,” said Stanford. “I'm grateful for her friendship and I know she will be an asset for this team. I am really looking forward to going to the Netherlands with her, Kristy and Paula.”

Lang is a two-time LPGA Tour winner, earning a major title at the 2016 U.S. Women’s Open. She represented the United States on the 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 U.S. Solheim Cup Teams. Lang’s four-ball partnership with Brittany Lincicome is the most successful for either side in Solheim Cup history, going a perfect 4-0-0.

“I am beyond honored and excited to be asked to be an assistant captain of the U.S. Solheim Cup Team in 2026. I've played a lot of Solheim Cups with Angela, Kristy and Paula, and I'm excited to work alongside them to lead the American Team to victory in the Netherlands next September,” said Lang. “This is probably one of the highest honors I've had in my career. I'm excited to learn, to help and to experience the atmosphere as an assistant captain.”

Stanford and Lang were U.S. Solheim Cup teammates in 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015. They played together twice, highlighted by a four-ball tie with Anna Nordqvist and Suzann Pettersen in 2009.

Prior to joining the LPGA Tour, Lang attended Duke University for two years, where she won six collegiate tournaments and was named the 2005 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Year. She won back-to-back ACC individual titles in 2004 and 2005 and was named the 2004 ACC Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman College Golfer of the Year. Lang’s well-decorated amateur career was capped at the 2005 U.S. Women’s Open, where she tied for second with then-fellow amateur Morgan Pressel.
