Richland at Reynolds Lake Oconee recognized among top developments of 2025 by Golf Inc.

Greensboro, Ga. (June 3, 2025) – Richland, the newest private course at Reynolds Lake Oconee, has received an Honorable Mention in the 2025 Development of the Year competition and will be featured in the May/June 2025 issue of Golf Inc. Magazine.

Each year Golf Inc. recognizes the top international daily fee, resort and private golf courses that opened during the previous 12 months.  The 18-hole Richland layout was created by acclaimed course architect Tom Fazio by combining nine holes from his existing National course with nine all-new holes.

Nine brand new holes—6 through 14—traverse the peninsula of this community and tumble down to the side of the lake. The resulting layout provides plenty of challenge with fescue-lined fairways, numerous bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes.

The judges commended the course for its “nice routing and interesting vision and cited the building architecture as “attractive and well-conceived.”

Reynolds Lake Oconee now boasts two Fazio designs (Richland and The National) along with courses from Jack Nicklaus (Great Waters), Rees Jones (The Oconee), Jim Engh (Creek Club), and two by Bob Cupp (The Preserve and The Landing).

The new Richland—which is the second fully private golf course accessible only to Reynolds Lake Oconee Platinum members—meanders through the 500-acre Richland Pointe community, which opened four years ago. Its centerpiece is Richland Pointe Village, which features a globally inspired restaurant, a state-of-the-art wellness center with TechnoGym equipment, Reynolds’ member-exclusive spa, and lakefront pool facilities.

The golf course’s location, which on some holes is adjacent to real estate, created additional buying opportunities for property owners and future buyers.

“Richland adds a seventh distinct playing experience for Reynolds Lake Oconee members, highlighting the talents of Tom Fazio’s design and the topography of the site,” said Rabun Neal, President, Reynolds Lake Oconee.  “It’s tough to imagine a finer collection of golf courses in any community in the country.”
