Landscapes Unlimited selected for planning, construction of new El Cardon golf course north of Mazatlán, Mexico

(LINCOLN, Neb.) – Golf course developer and construction company Landscapes Unlimited has been selected to plan and construct a new golf course at Reserva Cardon by Cardon Adventure Resort in Sinaloa on Mexico’s gold coast, 45 miles north of Mazatlán.

Landscapes Unlimited’s Project Development Group will oversee aspects of design and engineering, permitting, contractor selection, project administration and budget planning, and will also build the 18-hole championship golf course aptly named El Ebano.

Construction starts the first quarter 2026 with a play on at least nine holes scheduled for 2027 and full course completion by the last quarter 2028.

Designed by Mike Nuzzo and constructed with utmost sustainability practices, El Ebano’s 6,900-yard, par-72, visually stunning layout will be uniquely routed through mountains with Pacific Ocean views from 12 holes.  Nuzzo is coming off award-winning work at Cabot Citrus Farms, commonly referred to as America’s best-new golf course, located north of Tampa, Florida.

The golf course will be part of a low-density residential master plan that offers an array of activities, including ocean and pool surfing, fishing, mountain biking, skateboarding, hiking and racquet sports.

Cardon Adventure Resort began operations in 2006 with the purpose of generating sustainable development through responsible tourism I the coast community of Celestina Gasca.

“Landscapes Unlimited is proven as the best in the business when it comes to soup-to-nuts planning and construction of golf courses on-time, on-budget and of the highest quality,” said Sergio Castro, Co-Founder of Cardon Adventure Resort and a second-generation real estate developer across North America.  “We didn’t even look at other companies for the role.”

“El Ebano will be built on one of Mexico’s most amazing sites,” said Marvin Cruz who directs Landscapes Unlimited operations in Mexico and the Caribbean. “The dichotomy of dramatic mountains converging with sounds of crashing waves provides golfers and resort guests with the best of both worlds.”

Landscapes Unlimited is on a roll in Mexico, overseeing several projects countrywide.  Cruz assumed his position in mid-2024 with a pedigree of field work and in-office strategy and planning alongside Tom Fazio, Robert Trent Jones, Jr., Greg Norman, Jack Nicklaus and other A-list course designers.  He is credited for exceptional work at Abaco Club, Aviara, Liberty National, Rancho La Quinta, Traditions and many other reputable properties in Mexico, the Caribbean, South America and the U.S.
