HORSESHOE BAY, TEXAS – The Golf Academy at Horseshoe Bay Resort – located at the AAA-Four Diamond and Conde Nast Readers’ Choice Award-winning resort, a part of the Crescent Hotels & Resorts Latitudes collection – has announced the first-ever offering of 1- and 2-day Major Champion Golf Schools for this Fall.
Veteran PGA Tour star and 2002 PGA Championship winner Rich Beem is teaming up with Horseshoe Bay Resort Director of Instruction Bobby Steiner to provide elite instruction and hands-on teaching at these one-of-a-kind two-day schools. Individual golfers or groups of up to eight students are welcome to enroll in the two-day game improvement experience. The custom school curriculum has been curated exclusively for those looking to expand their knowledge and have the chance to glean wisdom and crucial golf skills from a major championship winner while enjoying the state-of-the-art Golf Academy that opened in partnership with Callaway Golf in March of this year.
“My father was a 25-year PGA member and taught the game full-time. Growing up, it was just a given that I would be a lifelong teacher as well, and I would've also been if I hadn't found success on the PGA Tour. It's nice to be on the lesson tee again, helping people get the most out of their game,” Beem said.
Beem competes part-time on the PGA TOUR Champions circuit and is a popular on-course reporter for Sky Sports TV in Europe. His first love, however, was teaching the game, which he practiced at El Paso Country Club before grinding his way through Q-School in 1998 and eventually becoming a three-time winner on the PGA Tour.
Every student participating in the two-day Major Champion Golf School at Horseshoe Bay Resort – in addition to daily three hours on the range and short game area – will also benefit from a nine-hole playing lesson with Beem and Steiner.
“Some lessons are better learned on the course, and so in addition to playing my own ball, I play the role of caddie during playing lessons,” says Beem. “It's more about teaching people how to think their way around the course. Many 15-handicappers could be single-digit if they just made better decisions on the course.”
Steiner adds “It brings me great joy to help every student reach the level to which they aspire. At these schools, those who join us will enjoy the rare experience of learning from someone who stood toe-to-toe with the game’s greatest players and emerged victorious. Everyday golfers can learn a great deal from Rich’s approach to playing and scoring and keeping a great attitude on the golf course. This will be a very sought-after opportunity. Sign up while you can!”
Major Champion 2-Day Golf Academies will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 4-5, as well as Saturday and Sunday, November 15-16. Meanwhile, Major Champion 1-Day Short Game Schools will be conducted on Friday, October 3 and Friday, November 14.
