Scottsdale, Ariz. (November 3, 2025) – Troon®, the leader in providing golf and club-related leisure and hospitality services, is pleased to announce it has been selected to manage historic Reading Country Club, a daily-fee facility in Reading, Pa. Troon Golf, the resort and daily-fee division of Troon will manage golf operations, agronomy, food and beverage as well as sales and marketing.
Chartered in 1922 and opened in 1923, Reading Country Club’s 18-hole, par-70 golf course was designed by Alexander Findlay. The 6,120-yard layout delivers a thrilling blend of playability and challenge, inviting golfers of all skill levels to test their game on a course that rewards strategy and precision. Reading Country Club has hosted golf royalty over its illustrious 102-year history, including Walter Hagen, Byron Nelson, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan and LPGA legend, Betsy King. Nelson, in fact, served as the Club’s head professional from 1937 to 1939 and famously won the 1937 Masters and 1939 U.S. Open while representing Reading Country Club.
The Club’s original stone building (the Bishop House) dates back to 1761 and once included a French and Indian War-era fort. After a fire destroyed the early clubhouse wing in 1930, a new Tudor Revival-style clubhouse was completed in 1931, designed by local architect and club champion Harry Maurer. In 2018, the clubhouse and golf course were added to the National Register of Historic Places, solidifying the Club’s national significance.
Reading Country Club has multiple dining and event venues for the public to enjoy, from scratch kitchen dishes served at Jack’s on the Green, craft cocktails and golf simulator fun in the Fairway Lounge, private dining celebrations in the exclusive 1923 Room, to the fresh bites and cold beverages at Mulligan’s Café.
In 2024, Charles, David, and Michael Gulati, purchased Reading Country Club from Exeter Township. The Gulati family has since funded and led an extensive renovation effort focused on modernizing the property, while still honoring its historic charm. The clubhouse is now one of Berks County’s premier wedding and event venues.
“Our family’s decision to partner with Troon was driven by a shared vision for what Reading Country Club can become. We’ve made tremendous progress restoring this historic property and honoring its legacy, but we also recognize the opportunity to elevate it even further. Troon’s expertise, resources, and commitment to excellence will help us enhance course conditions, strengthen the guest experience, and ensure the club’s continued growth and success,” said Reading Country Club Co-owner and General Manager Charles Gulati.
