Golf Channel’s coverage of The American Express is most-watched AmEx event since 2015, viewership up 124% vs. last year

STAMFORD, Conn. – January 28, 2026 – Golf Channel’s PGA TOUR coverage of last week’s The American Express from La Quinta, Calif. – featuring World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler’s 20th career PGA TOUR victory – ranks as the most-watched AmEx event since 2015 and more than doubled last year’s viewership.

Last week’s The American Express four-day coverage on Golf Channel averaged 515,000 viewers (Jan. 22-25), according to official Nielsen Big Data + Panel, up 124% vs. last year’s coverage of the event and marking the most-watched edition of The American Express since 2015.

Saturday’s third round coverage on Golf Channel – following 18-year-old Blades Brown’s second round 60 on Friday – averaged 883,000 viewers, up 284% vs. last year’s third round and was the most-watched Saturday of The American Express ever on Golf Channel, dating back to 2007. Saturday’s viewership peaked in the 5 p.m. ET quarter hour with more than 1 million viewers.

Sunday’s final round coverage on GOLF Channel averaged 617,000 viewers, up 127% vs. last year, as Scheffler fired a six-under 66 to secure his historic 20th career victory in his first start of the 2026 season. He joined Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only players to have 20 PGA TOUR titles and four major wins before turning 30.

Golf Channel’s coverage of Rounds 1 and 2 also set viewership marks last week, as Thursday’s coverage was up 29% vs. 2025 and Friday’s coverage saw 35% gains from last year.

Golf Channel’s coverage of the PGA TOUR continues this week with the Farmers Insurance Open from Torrey Pines in San Diego, Calif., as Brooks Koepka is set to make his return to the PGA TOUR.
