GCSAA launches Advance Leadership Program

Sponsored by Jacobsen Ltd., Advance engages golf course superintendents at the start of their careers

Lawrence, Kan. (April 29, 2026) – The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) has partnered with Jacobsen Ltd. to create the Advance Leadership Program to provide opportunities for golf course superintendents with less than five years of superintendent experience to become successful leaders in an ever-changing industry.

“Professional development has always been one of the cornerstones of GCSAA,” GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans said. “For those at the start of their journeys as superintendents, the Advance Leadership Program provides a valuable way to grow their knowledge base, further their careers and prepare to be leaders in the industry.”

The program combines virtual learning with in-person experiences at GCSAA headquarters and the annual GCSAA Conference and Trade Show. Participants learn from educational sessions, resources and expertise designed to develop the next generation of leaders. The program combines practical management training, mentorship, and industry expertise to cultivate leaders who are prepared to excel at course operations and contribute to the long-term sustainability and advancement of the game and industry.

Applicants must be GCSAA Class B members and a superintendent with less than five years of experience. They also must submit a letter of support from a manager, supervisor, mentor or other industry representative. In addition to the letter of support, applicants will be asked to provide demographic information and short answers related to professional development, career aspirations, and personal growth.

Eight applicants will be chosen for the 2026 class.

Applications will be accepted from May 1 through June 1 at gcsaa.org/advance.
