NBC Sports delivers most watched final round of the Open Championship since 2022

Sunday’s final round of 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale averaged 4.3 million viewers on NBC & Peacock, peaking at 6.1 million viewers; Saturday’s coverage on NBC and Peacock is most-watched round 3 since 2018

STAMFORD, Conn. – July 21, 2026 – NBC Sports’ presentation of the 154th Open Championship from Royal Birkdale in Southport, England delivered the most-watched final round of the event since 2022.

Sunday’s final round coverage on NBC and Peacock (9:02 a.m.–2:06 p.m. ET) averaged 4.3 million viewers to rank as the most watched final round since 2022, and up 6% from last year’s final round (4.1 million viewers for Scottie Scheffler’s victory at Royal Portrush), based on official Nielsen Big Data + Panel and digital data from Adobe Analytics.

Highlighted by New Zealand’s Ryan Fox’s dramatic birdie on the 72nd hole to capture his first major championship and the Claret Jug, Sunday’s audience peaked at 6.1million viewers on NBC and Peacock from 1:15-1:30 p.m. ET as Fox overtook clubhouse leader Cameron Young.

Saturday’s coverage (8:47 a.m.-3:22 p.m. ET) averaged 3.7 million viewers on NBC and Peacock – marking the most-watched third round since 2018 and up 16% from last year (3.2 million viewers).
