Scottie Scheffler earns 21st PGA Tour title at FedEx St. Jude Championship, clinches No. 1 position in U.S. Team standings

Cameron Young joins Scheffler in securing spot on U.S. Team

CHICAGO — The BMW Championship marks the final opportunity to secure one of six automatic qualifier spots for the 2026 U.S. Presidents Cup Team, with FedEx St. Jude Championship winner Scottie Scheffler and 2026 PLAYERS Champion Cameron Young guaranteed positions on the U.S. Team as Nos. 1 and 2 in the standings, respectively.

Scheffler secured his third consecutive Presidents Cup appearance (2022, 2024) following a dominant eight-stroke victory at TPC Southwind for his second victory of the 2026 season. The World No. 1 owns a 3-5-1 career record at the Presidents Cup, with all three wins coming at Royal Montreal in 2024. Scheffler partnered with Russell Henley (No. 4 in U.S. Team standings) on three occasions in 2024, with the duo earning a 2-1 record as partners.

Young has added two victories of his own this season at THE PLAYERS Championship and Cadillac Championship to help secure his second Presidents Cup appearance (2022) after posting a 1-2-1 record in his debut at Quail Hollow Club.

Other notable movement in the U.S. Team standings included Sam Burns, who moved to No. 3 following a T3 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and Wyndham Clark (T5), who moved three spots to No. 7.

On the International Team, Si Woo Kim finished runner-up in Memphis to bolster his position at No. 1 for Captain Ogilvy’s team and notched the third runner-up this season (others: Farmers Insurance Open, CJ CUP Byron Nelson), earning his 11th top-10 finish on TOUR this season, second-most on TOUR behind Scheffler’s 12.

The 2026 U.S. Team will be comprised of six (6) automatic qualifiers and six (6) captain’s picks, with the ranking determined through a weighted system based on FedExCup Points from January 1, 2025, through August 23, 2026. The six automatic qualifiers will be determined following the 2026 BMW Championship.
